Dutch artist Marian Brugman paints small, intimate paintings on panel exploring the fleeting moments in our existence. Experimenting with paint, the compositions often feature bright, almost gaudy, colours with interesting brushwork and textures.

Marian draws inspiration from human behaviour, focusing in particular on girls and women. Observations from everyday life feature in her work but she is also influenced by images seen in newspapers and magazines. The subject matter is always something that Marian herself can relate to, describing it as an investigation of her own discomfort, dreams, sexuality and ultimately, identity.
